water situation update, winter 2025
IMG-20250401-WA0003.jpg

After years of drought and careful water management, we’re grateful to report that this past winter brought abundant rainfall. Our lakes are now full, and Vinha Velha’s water reservoirs have been replenished—an immense relief and a gift from nature.

Thanks to these rains, we are entering the growing season with a secure water supply. Nevertheless, we remain committed to our conservation practices. The dry toilets, water recycling systems, and overall mindful use of water will continue to be an essential part of our farm life. Because even in times of abundance, water is still a limited and precious resource.

Let’s keep honoring it—with awareness, gratitude, and care.

Water situation
Fleyer+water.jpg

In the last decade Portugal has been suffering a severe decrease of rainfall, especially here in the Algarve. Vinha Velha obtains its water exclusively from barrier lakes and therefore water supply depends to 100% on rain.
Facing this climatic challenges we  are investing in our water reservoirs  and are consequently introducing water saving measures such as dry toilets and water recycling

Let´s  value, save and thoughtfully use water, as it is a limited source.
